A New Electrical Panel for the Hastings Crossroads Shelter!

The cold temperatures of December 2022 brought an unexpected Christmas gift to many Nebraska homeowners…frozen pipes, and burst pipes. Crossroads Mission Avenue’s Hastings shelter was no exception. The trouble was that the burst pipe was in a utility room, and it had sprayed water on the main electrical panel for the building. On Christmas Day, late into the night, the electricity was shut off at the Mission, and area churches came together to provide housing and transportation for 80 Crossroads guests. Indeed this was a time of crisis as the shelter was forced to shut down.

It takes all of us working together to care for the less fortunate among us, even in the best of times. Partnership, teamwork, cooperation – call it what you will, it defines a community, caring for each other. But a time of crisis brings this into sharp focus. And during this time of crisis at the Hastings Crossroads Mission Avenue shelter, churches, individuals, businesses, and families stepped up to help, showing our guests what “community” looks like.

Crossroads Mission Avenue is grateful to ALL who donated, lent a hand, and prayed for our ministry and our guests during this time of difficulty and displacement! We are grateful to those who were willing to share the burden! And now, almost 7 months later, a new electrical panel has been installed. Guests and staff alike are thankful for electricity and all the wonderful advantages it brings, from air conditioning to a working oven! We are praising God for His provision, and to Middleton Electric and Hastings Community Foundation who have helped us get this new panel installed. The Lord has truly brought Crossroads through this crisis, providing for every need while highlighting the wonderful community partnerships and support that Crossroads enjoys here in Hastings. We are humbled and blessed by all those who have shown mercy and support for the Mission and our guests during this difficulty. Thank you!
