It takes a Village to feed a Village!

September 20, 2022

Or more appropriately, it takes a community to feed the homeless and needy! Crossroads Mission Avenue has been blessed by several community supporters, as they have come together to meet our various refrigeration needs! Proper refrigeration is imperative for lengthening the usability of donated food products, allowing Crossroads to supply more essential meals for the homeless and food boxes for those families in the community experiencing food insecurities. Crossroads is committed to providing food, shelter and care for the homeless and needy in Central Nebraska, with the support from our communities playing a vital role in our ability to meet these basic needs. Giving our needy neighbors the help they require benefits all Nebraska residents in the long run!

Crossroads Mission Avenue gratefully acknowledges the generous donations from the following funders:

Greater Grand Island Community Foundation – granted Grand Island Crossroads Mission Avenue shelter $3,500 to purchase a new commercial grade reach-in refrigerator

Hastings Community Foundation – granted Hastings Crossroads Mission Avenue shelter $10,000 to replace mechanical components in the coolers

The Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund of the Kearney Area Community Foundation – granted Kearney Crossroads Mission Avenue shelter $5,000 toward the purchase of a new commercial reach-in refrigerator and freezer

Healthy Blue – granted Crossroads Mission Avenue $20,000 toward food services in Lexington and Kearney, a portion of which was used to purchase the Kearney Crossroads Mission Avenue commercial reach-in refrigerator and freezer units
